What we learned while creating Getyn.dev
Lessons from building an AI product: trust the preview, respect the user's time, and treat cost as a design constraint.
Building an AI product teaches you quickly which of your assumptions were wrong. A few lessons stuck with us.
The preview is the product
People don't trust claims; they trust what they can see running. Investing in a fast, honest live preview did more for confidence than any amount of marketing copy.
Respect the user's time and money
Every unnecessary model call is someone's time and money. Treating cost as a first-class design constraint — through caching, routing, and tighter loops — made the product better, not just cheaper.
Reliability beats cleverness
A clever feature that fails one time in ten erodes trust fast. We learned to ship the reliable version, then make it clever.
- Show real, running software as early as possible.
- Make cost and speed part of the design, not an afterthought.
- Prefer reliable and clear over clever and surprising.
We're still learning in the open — follow along in Inside Getyn.
